La r�serve de biosph�re d'Omayed (OBR) s'�tend sur environ 30 km le long de la c�te m�diterran�enne occidentale de l'�gypte avec une largeur int�rieure de 23,5 km au sud (30� 52' - 20� 38' N et 29� 00' - 29� 18' E). Il a une superficie de 700 km2 avec un paysage diff�renci� en une plaine c�ti�re nord et un plateau int�rieur sud. La plaine c�ti�re est caract�ris�e par une alternance de cr�tes et de d�pressions parall�les � la c�te dans la direction E-W. Cette h�t�rog�n�it� physiographique a conduit � la distinction de six principaux types d'�cosyst�mes : les cr�tes c�ti�res recouvertes de dunes, les d�pressions salines, les d�pressions non salines, les cr�tes int�rieures, les plateaux int�rieurs avec sol squelettique et les d�p�ts de sable siliceux int�rieur. Le pr�sent ouvrage aborde une �tude de cas sur l'OBR prenant en compte le niveau d'application des douze principes de l'approche �cosyst�mique dans la gestion de cette r�serve. Le livre comprend un r�sum�, une introduction, 6 chapitres, r�f�rences et plaques. Le livre contient �galement quelques recommandations pour la mise en place d'un programme dans les pays m�diterran�ens pour soutenir la mise en œuvre des principes de l'approche �cosyst�mique.

It has an area of 700 km2 with a landscape differentiated into a northern coastal plain and a southern inland plateau. The coastal plain is characterized by alternating ridges and depressions running parallel to the coast in E-W direction. This physiographic heterogeneity led to the distinction of six main types of ecosystems: coastal ridge overlain by dunes, saline depressions, non-saline depressions, inland ridges, inland plateau with skeletal soil, and inland siliceous sand deposits. The present book addresses a case study on OBR taking into account the level of application of the twelve principles of the ecosystem approach in the management of this reserve. The book includes an executive summary, introduction, 6 chapters, references and plates.
