Synopsis
La chirurgie préprothétique fait partie de la chirurgie buccale et maxillo-faciale qui traite de la préparation des tissus bucco-dentaires et des structures favorables à la mise en place de prothèses ultérieures pour leur bon placement, leur rétention, leur stabilité, leur fonction et leur cosmesis. L'amélioration chirurgicale de la zone porteuse de la prothèse et des tissus environnants (chirurgie préprothétique) offre un défi passionnant et exigeant à la pratique dentaire. De nombreuses modifications mineures de la crête alvéolaire et des zones vestibulaires peuvent grandement améliorer la stabilité et la rétention de la prothèse dentaire.
