Il y a l'idée générale que le KAP des mères en milieu urbain est supérieur à celui obtenu dans les zones rurales, cela pourrait provenir de perceptions et d'observations recueillies, mais sans validation scientifique. Ce livre sur les connaissances, attitudes et pratiques maternelles en matière de prévention et de gestion de la diarrhée infantile dans les zones urbaines et rurales de Maseru, a été réalisé dans le but de comparer le KAP des mères/soignants en relation avec la résidence (urbaine et rurale). Extrapoler scientifiquement les lacunes, afin de reconnaître et renforcer les zones de faiblesse, pour une éventuelle intervention spécifique au groupe résidentiel, et plutôt que d'adopter une approche « taille unique ». On espère que les résultats et recommandations de cette thèse pourront être généralisés à des contextes similaires dans d'autres pays en développement et utilisés comme source de connaissances pour améliorer la santé de l'enfant grâce à la réduction de la morbidité et de la mortalité liées à la diarrhée.
