Resilience theory is a complex field of study. In addition, the field of resilience is broad and diverse. In some aspects it is well developed and explored. In others it is still nascent.The research attempted to find out, the chronology of the resort development in the study area with particular emphasis on only those that went on decline, what make them to decline? Therefore, the research examines the local responses to the exogenous factors that had threatened the tourism business, and hence sustainability, of the tourism systems in Cherating Lama Village by taking into consideration the growing complexities of tourism development. Using insights from Butler’s (1980) Tourism Area Life Circle (TALC) model and Resilience Theory, a model that was initially developed by Hollings (1973) for the field of ecology but has lately been applied to other disciplines including tourism, the findings argues that; Cherating Lama a fishing community tourism destination is an example of non-linear change rather than conventional resort evolution.
