Some of such materials pose environmental menaces as they are disposed off indiscriminately as wastes rather than having to be utilized. The suitability and viability of such materials need to be explored for exploitation as construction materials for socio-economic sustainability.

Jonathan Sasah is a lecturer and a researcher who holds a master's degree in Structural engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. His research interests are structural materials, design and modelling. Dr. Charles K. Kankam is a Professor of structural engineering and materials in Civil Engineering.
