This book posed that the students who read Harry Potter were different from the general population of Vietnamese students in many ways: they preferred reading adventure and fantasy, and for pleasure more frequently, and were more likely to perceive themselves as having strong reading skills. And from this book in the form of a university research, readers would find out real factors identified as initially motivating this group to read Harry Potter was predominantly extrinsic, with friends most often identified as encouraging them to join them in the experience. Continued motivation to read fantasy novels was largely found to be intrinsic in nature with personal associations and emotional attachments between readers and the characters. This book is also a bridge to bring potential readers around the globe to look into the art of teaching and learning English issues in Vietnam on the way to regional and international integration as well.

Biographie de l'auteur

Thai Cong Dan, Ph.D., Dean, School of Social Sciences &Humanities, Can Tho University, Vietnam, is a lecturer of English, getting his PhD, Naresuan University, Thailand in 2010, and his MA, University of Notre Dame, IN, USA in 1998. His research interests are TESOL/TEFL issues, cultural aspects, scientific research, and educational administration.
