Synopsis

The study shows the importance of immediate physiotherapy on standard approaches of physiotherapy in post-discectomy. This study has several clinical and research implications. The results, if vindicated in a larger trial, might lead to a change of practice in exercise intervention of postoperative microdiscectomy patients, with potential to reduce the length of postoperative stay in hospital. This has health economic implications as well as the potential improved outcome.
