Synopsis

The two research projects included in this book use profitability analysis to determine if it is economically feasible to build a wind farm and a ski resort in a chosen location. The first paper uses a wind farm simulation to study if the current level of subsidies given to the windfarm industry is excessive or if it should be left as it is. The second paper studies the profitability of building a ski resort in the Pyrenees. It includes an analysis of the impact climate change could have on the results of the resort. Both papers use cash flows and in both papers the Internal Rate of Return is calculated to reach the final conclusion.
