Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) recently recognized Banni buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) as the distinct buffalo breed of India. The present study was undertaken on Banni buffalo to determine the haemato-biochemical baseline values and their variation at different physiological stages. Since, the present investigation is the first study of its kind in case of Banni buffalo; the data generated during the current investigations may be useful as reference values for the scientific community. It also furnishes the information about the variation in haemato-biochemical indices during different physiological stages, which may be used to assess the metabolic health status of animals.
