The Long Term Evolution (LTE) system services and the recent competitive applications with their required quality of servive (QoS) encourage network operators and motivate researchers to search for the best possible performance and reliability in their networks. The increased demand for data traffic is limited by throughput and delay constrains, according to the quality of service (QoS) which determines the throughput and the delay constrains. Delay constrain is vital for certain applications such as when the user equipment (UE) moves with high speed and in voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service. Some of these competing motivations are taken into consideration in this thesis whereby new models and best performances are demonstrated using the Vienna simulators for Uplink and Downlink to evaluate the performance of LTE under high data rate services. The techniques developed in this thesis are intended for supporting the LTE services by developing a new mapping between the signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) and the channel quality indicator (CQI). The CQI mapping has a significant impact on the throughput and packet delay. A new SINR to CQI mapping scheme is proposed.
