La Somalie est une soci�t� bas�e sur la lign�e, dans laquelle pratiquement tous les membres de la soci�t� b�n�ficient d'une appartenance � une famille de clans patrimoniale. Chaque famille de clans est � son tour subdivis�e par clan, sous-clan et sous-sous-clan, le tout sur la base de l'arbre g�n�alogique �tendu d'un Somali (Mansur, 1995:123). Selon les circonstances, diff�rents niveaux d'identit� de lign�e peuvent �tre mobilis�s politiquement, ce qui rend le syst�me de clan somalien tr�s fluide et instable dans la nature (Elmi, 2010:47). Alors que le clannisme a longtemps entrav� la coh�sion interne par la division et la fragmentation, la concurrence pour la terre, l'�nergie et le b�tail a entra�n� des affrontements profonds. Afin de s'attaquer � ces causes profondes, un changement important est n�cessaire dans la construction culturelle et politique du pays. Bien que l'AMISOM, avec le soutien de l'ONU, s'efforce de lib�rer l'�tat de son groupe arm� dominant - Al-Shaabab, et de restaurer le contr�le politique l�gitime, les efforts pour aborder la coh�sion interne entre les membres du clan restent un d�fi. Ce livre pr�sente les r�sultats de recherche critiques sur le r�le des AMISOM dans la transformation des conflits en Somalie. Il met en �vidence des recommandations concr�tes cibl�es � l'UA sur les options possibles pour la transformation des conflits en Somalie.
