Video Streaming architectures and systems are gaining focus due to the widespread diffusion of IP-based, bandwidth capable networks which can really support multimedia data intensive services. In this work, a service framework for Video Streaming is proposed which provides Video On Demand and Live Streaming Services. Video Streaming relies on the Real time Transport Protocol whereas streaming control is centered on the Real Time Streaming Protocol. A distinguishing feature of the proposed system is the ability of the media streamer Component at the server side to adapt the media flow on the basis of the feedback of the client. The framework is designed based on a layered architecture and employing different servers for performing VoD and Live Streaming in order to provide scalability to handle larger load. In this work, we study video streaming over multi-channel multi-radio multi-hop wireless networks with distributed scheduling scheme with the goals of minimizing the video distortion, achieving certain fairness and to meet each video’s Quality of Service (QoS) requirement by intelligently utilizing the available network resources.
