The work that the dear reader has in hand, presents in a comparative way the carbon sequestration capacity of a natural forest (Miombo) and an exotic forest (forest polygon of Eucalyptus and Pine). The data and the basis of the study was the traditional forest inventory, which gives an added scientific value to the work, because it not only addresses issues about carbon storage, but also what is one of the preponderant activities of every forest engineer. The work begins by describing issues about climate change, deforestation and anthropic actions that accelerate that process, as well as the role of forests in maintaining life on the planet, because among other things the forests are fundamental to regulate the climate of the planet. The book addresses and reinforces the need to take greater care with natural resources, particularly forests due to their environmental and protective role. I recommend to all those who work with these or similar subjects to read this book which, in an expedite way, facilitates the introduction to the study of carbon sequestration by the main carbon sinks, the trees. Angel de Miguel Garcia (WUR).
