Synopsis

The study presents the efforts of higher education in Cuba to provide local actors with epistemological and practical tools for the formation, in local actors, of the competence of knowledge management and innovation for local agricultural development. With a pedagogical approach, the research intervenes in the academic debate on this topic in the municipality of Camajuaní. Its general objective is to implement a training model of knowledge management and innovation competency for local agricultural development in students of agricultural careers. It organizes the theory on competency training, local agricultural development and knowledge management and innovation and justifies the role of the aforementioned competency training as a conditioning factor to achieve local agricultural development. The implementation of the Model into practice causes transformations and positive impacts on students of agricultural careers, teachers, local actors, the Municipal University Center, productive units and local agricultural production.
