Among the different components of communication, non-verbal cues play a vital role in teaching-learning. Hence, it is important to study the attitude of budding teachers towards non-verbal communication in the classroom. Every sign and movement of the teacher communicates or helps the taught to comprehend what is being intended to convey. Despite the infrastructural facilities and standard texts, it would not be useful and relevant when a teacher does not possess the traits meant for inter-personal relationships and effective communication. Teaching is such a complex skill that includes the mastery of a number of secondary skills of both verbal and nonverbal communication. Hence, the skill of non-verbal communication may be strengthened in teacher training institutions in addition to communication skills.
