Gas turbine engines are widely used for power generation because of their high efficiency at many places such as in thermal power plant, aircraft engines etc. Turbine blade is one of the most important components of the engine. It is subjected to very severe working conditions at high temperature with high centrifugal forces. At this working condition, blades are prone to fail due to fatigue, creep and environmental failure. Fatigue failure may be thermal fatigue, mechanical fatigue or Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue (TMF). At high temperature and load, creep is one of the major reasons for failure of components. Therefore, it is necessary to predict the life of components for satisfactory working and to avoid damages due to failures. In this study, turbine blade of Nickel based super-alloy INCONEL-718 and variable amplitude type loading is considered for thermal, mechanical and thermo-mechanical analysis. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software ABAQUS 6.11 is used to carry out analysis. FE-Safe 6.0, life estimation software was used to get the fatigue life of the turbine blade using Morrow strain-life. Creep life was calculated on the basis of Larson Miller Parameter (LMP).
