Synopsis

The present research work the carbon high carbon steel plate SA516 Grade 70 was selected to evaluate the best welding process for heavy thickness and for good mechanical properties. Two welding process were selected - FCAW and SAW both was used for welding of carbon steel plate for butt weld after the welding the test coupon was subjected to radiography testing and destructive testing such as longitudinal tensile test, side bend, root bend face bend transverse tensile test impact test, all weld test, hardness test, macro examination were performed there was significant difference was fond between the results and investigated that saw welding process is the best method and enhancement the mechanical properties like tensile strength, ductility of welded joints. This research work will benefit welding engineers and design engineers for calculation of the material which are subjected to welding with different serviceability.
