Synopsis

The natural ventilation is a main axis of the bioclimatic architecture as it was before in the vernacular and traditional architecture. It includes several techniques (wind tower, air-to-ground exchanger, solar chimney) without any energy consumption; this ensures its passivity, durability and high energy efficiency. The present work presents a general study of the different techniques of natural ventilation. The wind tower or wind collector is studied in more detail because of its great potential in the face of the challenges of thermal comfort in arid regions.
