This project focuses on multi-body dynamics modelling of formula student vehicle’s dynamics of chassis and suspension. Most importance is given to chassis torsional stiffness. The axis about which chassis twists has been found using MSC Adams View Simulations. Validations against theoretical calculations are presented for the models made in this project. Optimization procedure for finding the best chassis torsional stiffness based on the suspension configuration is presented using multi-body dynamics. Highlights: • The axis about which chassis wwists is found out using MBD Simulations.• Torsion testing using MSC Adams is presented.• Steady-state cornering analysis of chassis torsional stiffness is presented.• Chassis torsional stiffness optimisation in transient behaviour is presented.
