Organizational Behavior (OB) is a behavioral science that examines the behavior, attitudes, and performance of individuals and groups, in organizational contexts intended for applying such knowledge towards improving organizational effectiveness. Hence, it involves an exploration of organizational and managerial processes in the dynamic context of the organization and is primarily concerned with the human implications of such activity. This book examines such behavior on three levels—the individual, the group, and the organization as a whole. In all three cases, it seeks to learn more about what causes people—individually or collectively—to behave as they do in organizational settings. What motivates people? Why do groups often work in opposition to their employer? How do organizations respond to changes in their external environment? How do people communicate and make decisions? Such questions make up the domain of organizational behavior and are the nitty-gritty of this book. The book will help undergraduate and graduate students as references while they study this topic in their program. It could also help practitioners to augment their organizational behavior knowledge.
