Minimum weight, long fatigue life & adequate film thickness are some of the key design objectives in the optimum design of rolling element bearing(REB). The design approach by considering bearing envelope, fatigue life & wear life results in a low cost bearing. The weight, dynamic load capacity & Elasto-hydrodynamic(EHD) minimum film thickness of bearing is considered as some of the important design objectives. In this book the above design objectives are optimized by using single objective & multi-objective optimization approach along with some realistic kinematic constraints. In the light of this study, the proposed methodology for optimum design of REB serves as a tool to generate the optimum bearing geometry, which could be used in stress analysis, kinematic issues & other performance characteristics. A design approach for lighter bearing with high strength to weight ratio & less space requirement for running, etc. is proposed & elaborately describe in this book.It is hoped that this book takes a step in the optimum design of deep groove ball bearing & there by accommodating in facilitating a much-needed design requirement to happen towards the technical evolution in this area.
