The fight against smoking mobilizes the efforts of the health world in order to identify the means of cessation and the causes of failure. In a smoking cessation consultation, the level of dependence is quantified with specific scales such as the Fagerström test, and comorbid depression is necessarily sought during the first interview by questioning and with questionnaires such as the Beck Depression Scale (BDI). An associated psychological or psychiatric treatment is necessary for depressed patients, who are often strongly dependent on nicotine.
