Synopsis

The concept of the Smart Home has been on for quite a long time now. That is the idea of integrating technologies and services through home networking. This concept is put into great use in the automation industry which is a field greatly utilized by both PLC and Enocean Technology. A programmable Logic Controller (PLC) which acts as a hub can be used to connect intelligent systems like the STM250 device(Sensor Transmitter Module). In the context of this work, the Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC software used alongside Beckhoff devices and Enocean-based devices are used to set up a smart home network. The goal of the study is to solve a security problem in a smart home environment by using low energy cost devices as compared to the cost of maintaining a normal security alarm system via a security company. The concept of a smart home in Enocean-based device like STM 250 with Beckhoff was used in this regard to control security in the home when used alongside 8 channel wireless relay receiver. Due to the smartness of all devices after the integration, a breach in security can be monitored via the system integration on the PC with the installed TwinCAT PLC.
