Approximately 91% of the world's population breathes polluted air, which causes some seven million deaths each year, according to the WHO. In large cities of developing countries, this pollution is attributable to road traffic. Thus, this study consists in assessing the temporal variability of ozone induced by road traffic in the Dakar region. Our methodological approach is based on the literature review and the collection of hourly nitrogen dioxide and ozone data at the Centre de Gestion de la Qualité de l'Air for the year 2019. These data come from road traffic type measurement stations such as the Boulevard de la République and Guédiawaye stations. The results show that downtown Dakar has a higher level of pollution for nitrogen dioxide than the suburbs because of the greater traffic in the urban agglomeration. For ozone, the analysis of the results shows that in the vicinity of roads, the pollutant is formed from reactions between nitrogen dioxide from motor vehicles and atmospheric oxygen in the presence of solar radiation.
