Synopsis

Bangladesh situated in tropical low lying coastal area. A vast network of river, an enormous discharge of river-borne sediments, a large number of estuarine islands, strong tidal action characterize the coastal environment of Bangladesh. Based on available information Pramanik (1989) has divided the coastal belt of Bangladesh in three regions: The Eastern region, the central region and the western region. Banshkhali upazila is uncorrupted in to the eastern region that comprises a strip of plain land between the hills and sea. The coast of this upazila is regular, unbroken and not very susceptible to erosion and is protect alone the sea by mart flat and submerged sends. The present study is an attempt to reveal various geomorphic landforms of this upazila. It is also includes the identification of the salinity changes that may have impact on crop production in this upazila.
