Synopsis

Milk is critical component of Indian economy and ultimately depend on Fodder plays an important role in economizing the cost of production of livestock products especially of milk. Fodder comprises a major protein of dairy ration of milch animals and therefore cultivation of nutritious and high yielding fodder is inevitable. Forage crop has served as an important source of feed of domestic animals for a long period. Green fodder are rich and cheapest source of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals, it is the essential component of feeding high yielding milch animals to obtain optimum level of milk production. Providing sufficient quantities of fodder instead of costly concentrates and feeds to the milch animals, the cost of milk production can considerably be reduced.
