Synopsis

Graduates are one of the main sources of information on the quality of academic training that can inform discussions on the reform of the curriculum of degree programmes in biological sciences. Biologists study the principles of life with the aim of enriching and improving academic scientific knowledge and making its theoretical and practical application. In this way, higher education institutions must offer professionals access to high quality education, as the teaching of Biology presents itself as a great challenge where the Biology teacher has to know the content to be taught, the methodological guidelines that must be applied in the construction of knowledge, appropriate themes that provide a critical view of the phenomena that involve Science, continuously deepen knowledge, seeking to acquire new ones, argue common sense ideas about science and the simplistic view of what science is and the work of the scientist. In this sense, there is a huge consensus on the importance of investing in the training of biology teachers, in order to prepare them to exercise good quality teaching, developing teaching in a critical way.
