Synopsis

A field experiment was conducted at Regional Research Station, New Alluvial Zone, Gayeshpur, Nadia, West Bengal to study the effect of different nutrient managements in groundnut. The experiment was carried out in randomized block design with 8 treatments i.e., T1: 50% recommended NPK (inorganic) + 50% N as FYM; T2: 1/3rd recommended N each from FYM, Vermicompost (VC), Neemcake (NC); T3: T2 + intercropping (Groundnut + okra – 3:2; T4: T2 + straw mulch for weed management; T5: 50% N as FYM + Rock phosphate + PSB to all crops (Rhizobium to groundnut); T6: T2 + biofertilizers containing N and P carriers (same as T5); T7: 100% recommended NPK; T8: Control (without manures and fertilizers) and each treatment replicated thrice. The result revealed that organic nutrient management with one third recommended nitrogen each from farmyard manure, vermicompost and neem cake along with Rhizobium, Rock phosphate and PSB (T6) is the best option followed by integrated nutrient management (T1) and thus can be recommended to the farmers for higher production of groundnut.
