Synopsis

The book mainly concentrate the biological degradation of polyethylene polymer using microorganisms especially soil fungal consortium. The consortium was formulated from the microorganisms isolated from the soil sample collected in and around Tirupur and Coimbatore region. Polyethylene polymer (Plastic) one of the significant pollution of the earth which affect the life forms of all living organisms. Fungi can able to synthesis potential enzymes to degrade the various polymers. The soil sample was collected from the waste material dumb yard to collect potential fungi. So the formulated fungal consortium will be the one the alternative solution to reduce the polyethylene polymer pollution on the earth.
