Safeguarding public health necessitates ensuring the purity of drinking water, free from any potential pathogens. This study addresses the critical issue of fecal contamination in the tap water supplied for daily consumption in Karachi City, Pakistan. A total of 200 tap water samples were collected from eighteen diverse towns within Karachi, aiming to assess the extent of microbial contamination and its implications for public health.In this comprehensive study provides a detailed examination of microbial indicators confirming fecal contamination in Karachi's drinking water. The presence of Total Viable Count, E. coli, and Fecal Coliform in various samples from different towns underscores the immediate need for remedial measures to ensure the provision of safe and clean drinking water to the public. The study serves as a crucial call to action for policymakers, water authorities, and the community at large to collaboratively address contamination issues and prioritize the health and well-being of Karachi's residents.
