Fruit flies are one of the most notorious pests of Agricultural ecosystem. The larva are pulp feeders and also invite secondary infection from other microbes. They are of quarantine importance in most countries far and wide. In this book we have described the biology, ecology and different novel management approaches in managing this insect pest. This book provides insights into the physiology, morphometrics and reproductive biology of the insect in response to different management tactics. The book discusses the order of preference of the host, effect of different dietary components on growth and development; effect of phytohormones in the growth, development and reproductive biology of the insect and lastly its management using novel insecticides in field conditions. It also gives a comprehensive idea about the bait method of insect control of fruit fly using novel insecticides and an in depth idea about the benefit cost analysis after application of the control method.
