This study examines the coverage and reporting of development news related to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Nigerian newspapers from 2015 to 2019. The research assesses the extent to which major Nigerian newspapers represented MDGs-related issues, the framing of such news stories, and the overall quality of reporting on development initiatives during the specified time period. Using a content analysis approach, a sample of newspaper articles was systematically analyzed to identify trends, patterns, and gaps in the portrayal of MDGs in the media. The findings reveal the varying degrees of attention given to MDGs across different newspapers, with some publications demonstrating a more comprehensive and nuanced approach to reporting on development issues than others. Recommendations are provided for journalists, media organizations, and policymakers to enhance the quality and reach of development news coverage in Nigerian newspapers.
