Synopsis

The tribal women in India are hardworking and they contribute significantly towards their family income but their incom egenerating sources are limited. As the socio -economic progress of the community has a direct link with the empowerment of women, it has become one of the most important concerns of 21 st century and thus, the Government of Gujarat taken many initiatives to empower th e women of state economically and financially. In this, a concept of SHGs was takeninto an account and a new yojana named as “Sakhi Mandal” was launched on Feb. 2, 2007. Considering the importance of women empowerment in present context and role of this yojana in women empowerment the present investigation entitled, “Role of Sakhi Mandal in empowerment of tribal women in Navsari district” was undertaken during the year 2017-2018. 100 respondent tribal women were selected following simple random sampling me thod from ten selected villages of two selected talukas from Navsari district.
