Synopsis

This book analyzes some aspects of the socio-spatial differentiation inherent to the Brazil/Bolivia Border Zone (Mato Grosso do Sul/Province of Germán Busch). Considering the intra-urban scale, it specifically sought to explore the articulations in the economic and social division of the city of Corumbá/MS, which together with Ladário/MS and the Bolivian cities of Puerto Suárez and Puerto Quijarro make up the aforementioned border zone. The intention was to investigate the balance of power produced through the negotiations of individuals who live and reside in the border town (Corumbá/MS). In other words, the objective of the work is to discuss the “oxymoronization” that characterizes the Corumbá territory.
