Synopsis

In recent decades, the Amazon region has been losing vegetation cover over large areas as a result of anthropogenic activities to expand agribusiness, mining and logging, which puts at risk native forest species of inestimable social, economic and pharmacological value to the region. In order to successfully recover these degraded areas, it is necessary to carry out systematic studies on the nutritional conditions and requirements of native forest species from different ecological groups, such as the ipê, in this study, as it is one of the most coveted species for reforesting degraded areas, recovering riparian forests and urban afforestation projects. This study aimed to characterize the nutritional aspects and the effects caused by nutrient omission and liming on the initial growth of ipê-roxo and ipê-amarelo seedlings using the nutrient omission technique.
