The success (or) failure of an irrigation system depends on the active participation of an individual beneficiary in association with the community at large. In India, canal was a major source of irrigation. So, the maintenance of these canals is important and it could be done through the Water Users� Association (WUA). If the WUA were studied this would provide scope for improving the effective functioning of the association. Keeping in view, the present study has been designed to study the structure, functioning and to assess the effectiveness of WUA.
