Synopsis

The importance of first aid in emergency situations cannot be overstated. The primary goals of this care are to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery. The purpose of this research study is to comprehensively explore the role of first aid as the first line of rescue in emergency situations. It aims to provide a clear understanding of its principles and techniques, examine the challenges faced during implementation, and suggest future strategies for enhancing its effectiveness. The study was conducted on representative students of the B. Pharm. and M. Pharm. program at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan. A validated semi-structured, first aid questionnaire comprising 33 open and close-ended questions and an exercise (steps of emergency scene management) covering the various domains encompassing awareness about first aid practices were considered, filled, and assessed. A total of 250 subjects satisfying both the inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled. STROBE guidelines for cross-sectional study were considered for the same.
