9786209485039: Total Core Meltdown at Angra I and Release of Radionuclides into the Atmosphere: Station Blackout at Unit 1

Synopsis

The proposed accident consists of a Station Blackout at the Angra 1 Plant, where total core compromise will result in the release of 100% of I-131 into the atmosphere. The total activity value in the core for this radionuclide is 7.44 x 10^17 Bq, which is relative to the sixth day of burning. Applying the model to the proposed scenario, it can be seen that the plume has concentrations of around 10^20 Bq/m³ and a committed dose to the thyroid of around 10^8 Sv, which is beyond the impact zone presented in Eletronuclear's current emergency plan.
