This book examines the challenges faced by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Bangladesh and Ethiopia in implementing digital marketing strategies. While the digital revolution has created new business opportunities, SMEs in developing countries continue to struggle due to limited resources, skills, and infrastructure. Using a qualitative research approach, the study analyzes semi-structured interviews with SME owners and managers to identify key barriers and practices. The findings show that social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok are the most commonly used digital marketing tools, particularly in urban areas. However, major obstacles include resource constraints, socio-cultural factors, poor internet connectivity, low digital literacy, and a significant digital divide between urban and rural regions. Many SMEs still rely on traditional marketing methods and face difficulties competing with well-established firms. The book also discusses the study’s limitations and highlights the need for improved digital skills, infrastructure, and policy support to enhance digital marketing adoption among SMEs.
