Its main function, unlike the European Union, the EFTA does not seek a political union, nor a common customs union, its objective is to: manage free trade among its members, coordinate the European Economic Area (EEA), which allows Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein to participate in the internal market of the European Union (EU) without being members of it. Negotiate free trade agreements with countries around the world (such as the one with Mercosur).
