This research work aims to present the simulation based evaluation of SAR distribution in tissues of human ear subjected to radiofrequency (RF) radiation of mobile phones. A simplified three-layer anatomical model of the skin, the subcutaneous fat tissue and the auricular cartilage as a presented model. The electrical and thermal parameters of each layer, such as conductivity, relative permittivity, density, and specific heat capacity were included in the computational model, Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method was used for simulation of electromagnetic wave propagation in the tissue structure, and for analyzing the spatial distribution of electric and magnetic field. SARs were calculated at frequencies used in mobile communications, that is, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2400MHz. The effects of dielectric contrasts in the layers of tissues on the penetration depth and energy deposition patterns were also investigated.
