This book explores mental health from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives, beginning with the earliest stage of human life, the womb. The book challenges conventional assumptions about free will by examining how biological, parental and environmental factors may influence mental health before birth and throughout development.Central to the authors' approach is the World Knowledge Database (WKDB), designed with a serial rather than "stove-pipe" architecture to integrate knowledge across domains. This framework provides a basis for examining and quantifying free will through information associated with a child's biological parents.Particular attention is given to the hormonal influences of the birth mother, presented as a rich biological environment from which information relevant to mental health and mood science may be derived. By bringing together ontological engineering, systems and control theory, biotechnology and artificial intelligence, the authors propose a distinctive knowledge-based framework for understanding and quantifying mental health.
