Our study focuses on RAN and its purported ability to predict academic performance. We first administered RAN tasks consisting of various items, followed by academic tests in written language and arithmetic two months later. The samples consisted of two groups of typically developing children enrolled in first and second grade, for a total of 93 participants. Our results show significant correlations between RAN and academic tests. Furthermore, these correlations strengthen from first to second grade, attesting to the value of RAN as a predictive tool for learning. Rapid Automated Naming should therefore be considered a valuable and relevant screening tool in speech-language pathology. Our study focuses on the RAN and its supposed predictive capabilities regarding academic performance. First, we administered RAN tasks consisting of different items, followed by academic tests-language (reading, writing) and arithmetic exercises-two months later. The samples consisted of two groups of typically developing children in CP and CE1, with a total of 93 participants. Our results show significant correlations between RAN and academic tests.
