Synopsis

Given the difficulty in demonstrating a positive relationship between parental involvement in homework and academic performance, it seems important to better understand the phenomenon of parental involvement. In this regard, according to some researchers, variations in the effect of parental involvement on academic performance are primarily due to certain family, personal, and school-related characteristics of the child. In this context, and to better understand the factors associated with parental involvement, our study examines parental involvement in homework completion while taking into account the family, personal, and school-related characteristics of elementary school children. The results of this study confirm that parental involvement in homework completion may vary depending on the family characteristics of elementary school children. Furthermore, they show that the child's academic performance is an important factor to consider when assessing parental involvement in homework.
