Synopsis
《中国古代文学名著典藏书系：警世通言》由四十篇白话文短篇小说组成，内容主要涉及以下几个方面：其一，婚姻爱情与女性命运。其二，功名利禄与人世沧桑。其三，奇事冤案与怪异世界。描述的大多是市民阶层的思想面貌、情趣爱好、生活景象等等。
作为古代白话短篇小说的一个高峰，《警世通言》构筑了自己独特的艺术世界。我国古代白话小说，是在"说话"、"话本"的基础上，经过文人的加工、提高而来的。"说话人"的故事底本称为"话本"，现代学者称"三言""二拍"为"拟话本"。与早期的"话本"相比较，《警世通言》在语言、文体和结构等方面都有了很大的变化和发展。
