Synopsis
在明清小说中，zui为后人所称道的莫过于《红楼梦》了。鲁迅（1881_1936）曾说："自有《红楼梦》出来以后，传统的思想和写法都打破了。"（《中国小说的历史的变迁》）《红楼梦》成书于清代乾隆年间，全书120回。胡适（1891_1962）于1921年在《《红楼梦》考证》一文指出，其前80回为曹雪芹（约1715_约1763）所作，后40回则是程伟元（？_约1818）、高鹗（约1738_约1815）整理的，此论为当今学界所普遍认同。
《红楼梦》全书以贾、史、王、薛四大家族的兴衰为背景，以贾宝玉与林黛玉、薛宝钗的恋爱经历以及其他红楼女子的生活经历为中心线索，真实而深入地描写了人性与生存环境（由社会制度、家族结构、封建礼教等构成）的冲突、人性被压抑的痛苦，以及要求人性解放而进行的挣扎或反抗，生动地塑造了贾宝玉、林黛玉、王熙凤、薛宝钗、史湘云、探春、晴雯、袭人等众多有血有肉的、具有鲜明个性的艺术形象。
此次出版的《红楼梦》主要依据"程乙本"，同时参考了其他众多版本，并对一些名词术语加以注释，以方便读者阅读。
