Synopsis

Focusing graduate education in Chinas local colleges as its research object, and system as the core variable, it sees through, from the theoretical perspective of institutionalism, the reason of the formation and ossification of the system which influence the differentiated development of Chinas local universities graduate education. The book, starting from the development process and the realities of the local colleges graduate education, deduces the expectations of the differentiated development of the local colleges graduate education. It exposes the real problems which have caused the convergence development of local colleges graduate education through analyzing of the data which is collected through site visits, interviews and questionnaires. It then analyzes the institutional system which has led to the convergence development of local universities graduate education as well as the reasons behind with text analysis and institutionalism theory. It selects one university from each of the local colleges of the three levels as examples, making analysis and comparation,hoping to test and verify and enrich the analytical framework with these micro-level data. Finally, based on the comprehensive study, it makes the attempt to put forward the institutional change path to promote the diversified development of graduate education.
