《中医内科临床治疗学（修订版）》以《黄帝内经》《伤寒论》《金匮要略》以及后世温病学说等作为主要理论根据，密切结合中医内科临床实际，运用“脏腑辨证”“六经辨证”“卫气营血辨证”“病因辨证”“八纲辨证”“气血津液辨证”“三焦辨证”“经络辨证”等方法分证，着重阐述辨证分析和治疗；在选方时，经方、时方并蓄，皆以临床疗效为取舍标准，尤其对清末和近代名老中医的效方作了部分选录。
《中医内科临床治疗学（修订版）》分外感时病、肺系病证、心脑系病证、脾胃系病证、肝胆系病证、肾系病证、气血津液病证、肢体经络病证等8章，共收中医内科常见病证84种。每个病证分概述、证候治疗、参考方、文献别录等四项，尤其突出证候治疗。每一证候的论治分为“四诊摘要”“辨证分析”“论治法则”“首选方剂”“备用方剂”“随症加减”“辨治按语”等，详加阐述。
