Synopsis
Directed at foreign students taking MID-LEVEL Chinese language classes and consisting of three books: textbook, practice book and a teacher's character reference. NOTE: This is a relatively advanced textbook - there is no beginner-level text in this series. The textbook is in two parts: the first is an introduction to Chinese characters, while the second, covers meaning, radicals and corresponding characters, and includes 804 Level-B characters. In order to study Chinese characters the student must understand them. This textbook gives an essential introduction to the formation of characters, their history, structure and unique qualities. The trick to learning characters well is to master their systematic nature (shape/xing, sound/yin and meaning/yi).
