Du ková is one of the eminent Czech linguists specialising in the English language. This book presents the results of long lasting research of English grammar, syntax and hyper syntax. The verb and possessive determinants are treated in the first volume, while syntax, complex and compound sentences and hyper syntax are ysed in the second volume. Du ková follows on from the most eminent Czech linguists like Vilém Mathesius, Bohumil Trnka and Josef Trnka. Du ková's work is based on structuralism and confrontation methodology.
